Purpose of the study. Determining the permissible volume of non-original text during the automated check of scientific documents for plagiarism has become a new, but already widespread phenomenon in Russia. Experience with the use of threshold values shows that it can affect the final quality of such documents in different ways and therefore requires special consideration. The purpose of the article is to study the positive and negative consequences of using the allowable amount of borrowing.
